Sufaida Eucalyptus Honey

• The traditional winter jar in this region, usually taken in warm water when the weather turns.
• Eucalyptus honey has a distinct resinous aroma that comes directly from the nectar.
• A warm honey drink coats and soothes a sore throat. That effect is real and it is also temporary — it is comfort, not a cure.

Honey is a food, not a medicine. These are traditional uses and general nutrition points, not treatment claims. Never give honey to a child under 12 months. If you are diabetic, pregnant, or on medication, speak to your doctor first.

• A tablespoon in hot — not boiling — water with lemon.
• Over toast or paratha in winter.
• In marinades where a stronger honey flavour is wanted.

Eucalyptus is planted in long windbreaks across the Peshawar valley and flowers late in the year when little else does. That makes it an important late-season nectar flow for our hives and gives a bold, resinous honey.

It crystallises faster than palosa. Stand the jar in warm water — under 40°C — and it will loosen without damage.
